How to Listen to Amazon Music Using Your Android Phone or Tablet

Even though the two don't mix, you can still listen to Amazon Music or Amazon Music Unlimited tracks on your Google Home or Google Nest speaker. You'll need to jump through a few extra hoops and treat the smart device as a basic Bluetooth speaker after you've made sure your Google Nest or Mini device is set up.

You have to keep in mind that voice controls will not work outside of handling the device volume. So, you won't be able to tell your Google Home or Nest to play your favorites on Amazon Music since there's no integration between the two apps.

Here's how you can listen to Amazon Music on your Google Home or Nest device with your Android phone or tablet:

Launch the Google Home app on your Android device.

In the app, tap on the device and then on the cogwheel button at the top to reach the settings area.

Follow up to Device features > Audio and the Paired Bluetooth devices.

At the bottom of the screen, you'll notice a button that says Enable Pairing Mood. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone or tablet and choose the Google Home or Nest device to pair them together.

Go to the Amazon Music app on your Android phone and start playing music.

Since the Google Home or Nest is now connected to your device via Bluetooth, you should be able to listen to your tracks directly through the speakers. If the sound is still coming from your phone, drag down the notifications bar and switch the Audio output to your speaker. You can always switch back.

You can ask your Google Home or Nest to adjust the volume or play a different song. The song, however, will be played via your default music streaming service—here's how you can choose your go-to streaming service.

Alternatively, your app may show a cast button in the top area of the screen, so you can press that one instead of choosing the Google Home or Nest device from the list. However, both devices need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network for the button to be available.

If you have an iOS device, do not fret, as you still listen to Amazon Music content over on your Google Home or Nest device. Once more, you're going to have to treat your smart device as a Bluetooth speaker.

Open the iOS Google Home app, select the Settings cogwheel.

From there, go to the Audio area and enable Paired Bluetooth Devices.

Make sure the iPhone or iPad Bluetooth is turned on as well.

Go ahead and launch the Amazon Music app on your device. Make sure you're logged into your account.

Play your favorite tracks or playlist

Open your device's Control Center. Touch and hold the controls in the right-hand top corner.

From there, tap AirPlay and choose Google Home to send your Amazon Music tracks.

Since this is a Google device we're talking about, make sure to launch Chrome and load Amazon Music in a tab. If you use another browser, this won't work.

Once on Amazon Music, tap the three vertical buttons in the bar.

Go to Cast and click on the button. There, you'll see all the available devices you can cast to. Select the Google Home or Nest device.

Once you tap on the speaker, the connection will be established, and the audio output will switch from your regular speakers to the Google smart speaker.
